BETS Students: Teamwork makes the dream work at FoalPoint!

The University of Waterloo runs a program called BETS (Bridging Entrepreneurs to Students) through the Conrad School of Entrepreneurship and Business. PFERA Inc. has been using the BETS program at the University of Waterloo for a few rounds now and we've had a wonderful experience with their students who work with us in a co-op style for a period of 5 weeks. It is very rare to find a BETS student with horse experience but actually, their developer skills and drive to learn is often much more valuable to us. These skills are crucial to help us build the framework behind the FoalPoint software and make the technology more intuitive and intelligent in order to help breeders. The horse savvy members of the PFERA team also enjoy introducing them to a world they might not have realized even existed!

As a wonderful contributor to FoalPoint, we'd like to introduce you to Muradil, one of our BETS students who has dived right in to the world of FoalPoint!

Muradil at FoalPoint HQ

What program are you in at the University of Waterloo?

I am studying Electrical Engineering and just finished my first year of University!

What career are you interested in once you graduate?

As of now, I'm not completely sure what career I want to pursue, but software engineering and hardware engineering attract me the most.

What are your main interests and hobbies?

I recently got into cooking due to living away from home and in my spare time, I also like watching movies/tv-shows and playing guitar.

What is your role at PFERA Inc.?

My role is to test the features of FoalPoint and fix any problems, as well as

implement new FoalPoint features on the web and mobile app!.

What is your favourite feature of FoalPoint?

I really like the horse sharing feature on FoalPoint because it allows multiple

people view the same horse on different accounts which I think is a very practical

feature to have.

What have you learned from your time with us so far?

In the short amount of time I have been here, I have learned so much about web and

app development by being able to fix issues and implement new features. This has

allowed me to refine my programming knowledge and gain new insights into many

different web technologies.

Thanks Muradil for putting in so much work behind the scenes on FoalPoint!
